About Us

  • Our Mission: Symphonic Music for All!

Our Vision: To create an extraordinary music experience that realizes the potential of our musicians and illuminates the power of collective effort.

Founded in 2016, the Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville is a 501(C)3 not-for-profit volunteer classical music orchestra. Members donate their time and talents to cultivate classical music connoisseurship through education, performance and collaborative programing. Civic Orchestra concerts are free and open to all.

  • We acknowledge the homogeneity and European heritage from which the symphonic orchestra arises. The Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville believes that all races are equal and that our organization is enriched by embracing different cultures and contemporary influences. The Orchestra will continually explore ways to reflect plurality, inclusivity, and curiosity in all parts of our organization.

The Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville engages the community through a diverse selection of music, equitable concert venues and inclusive membership within our Orchestra. Through our concert performances and educational outreach programs we celebrate those who have been excluded from the traditional canon of symphonic music, including female composers, persons of color and persons of all faiths.

The Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville will be representative of our community. The reason the Orchestra exists is to bring the joy, beauty and the power of symphonic music to all, especially those in underserved communities that otherwise would not be able to experience a live performance.

  • The Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville serves its community and beyond with an educational outreach program. We have taught hundreds of children to better understand the connection between music and visual art. It is our hope to share the joy of music as we ensure all concerts are free and family friendly.

Apply to be our Educational Outreach Coordinator for 2023-24.

“I just love these talented folks! So proud of you organizers doing good things for the community even beyond giving beautiful music! Discovering you folks has put the icing on the cake of deciding to retire in Florida!” - Cindy, Florida
